Time to start thinking about the 2015-2016 school year!
It may feel early, but now is the time to get your child enrolled in either preschool or kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Preschool open houses and kindergarten roundups are being held over the next couple of months.
Preschool Ready Kids (3-4 year olds)
- Go to greatstarttoquality.org to search for preschools in your area.
- Free preschool is available for those who qualify. Call 866-462-2662 or more information on free preschool options.
Kindergarten Ready Kids (5 year olds)
- Your child is ready for Kindergarten if they will turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2015.
- Call your local elementary school for their Kindergarten Roundup date and time.

The Macomb County Health Department Hearing and Vision Program is conducting FREE Hearing and Vision Screenings for incoming Kindergarteners at various locations and dates from March to May. If your child has not been screened in preschool, please call (586) 412-5945 for an appointment and screening locations.
If you have chosen NOT to immunize your child, there is a new rule:
Parents/guardians seeking a nonmedical (parental) immunization waiver are now required to schedule an appointment at Macomb County Health Department (MCHD) to receive waiver education and to be issued a certified State of Michigan Immunization Waiver Form.
